Budget & Finance Specialist
Job Description
Budget & Finance Specialist will deliver dedicated budgeting and finance support for the College of Science Dean’s Office and assigned departments onsite in Notre Dame, IN.
Responsibilities
- Own the annual budgeting process for assigned department(s), covering both labor and non-labor expenditures and revenue
- Partner with the Department Admin, Chair, and the Director of Finance to update forecasts throughout the year
- Ensure department projections submitted to the Budget Office, Provost’s Office, and Board of Trustees are complete and accurate
- Submit and/or approve financial transactions in University systems, including buyND, travelND, and the Financial Toolkit
- Manage restricted (endowed) funds for assigned department(s), including confirming expenditures are charged appropriately
- Monitor restricted fund deficits and help ensure deficits are cleared promptly
- Coordinate with Development, the Controller’s office, and the Dean’s Office on fund utilization, stewardship, and/or restriction release requests
- Assist the Director of Finance with college-level initiatives, including financial oversight of Centers & Institutes within the College of Science
- Support additional college-level projects and tasks as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.A.) in a relevant field (e.g., Accounting, Finance)
- 1+ years of experience in budgeting, accounting, and general financial management
Technologies
- buyND, travelND, Financial Toolkit
- MS Office products
- Google suite
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA License preferred
- Higher education experience

- Understanding of the mission and values of a Catholic University founded by the Congregation of Holy Cross
