Job Description
Winston & Strawn seeks an onsite Business Development Specialist, Finance, in Charlotte, NC, with a salary between $102,000 and $121,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Uphold the firm's Professional Excellence, Client Focus, and Leadership & Professionalism standards as outlined in the Staff Development Framework.
- Provide performance feedback on the BD Coordinator to the manager.
- Collaborate with the Manager to develop all materials required for pre-arrival packets.
- Support the execution of integration plan initiatives.
- Participate in the everyday delivery of business development services for assigned practices.
- Assist in implementing strategic planning initiatives when requested.
- Assist with rankings and directory submissions, including referee lists.
- Direct experience with directories is preferred, including Chambers USA and Legal 500.
- Engage in ongoing maintenance of the firm’s experience system.
- Review materials and input revised or new content into the experience system, covering deal metrics and opposing counsel details for reuse.
- Update or add experience entries in the experience system, including content from completed directory submissions.
- Track pitch and proposal activity within the new experience system.
- Assist in developing proposal materials and RFP responses, and create routine pitch materials.
- Support the Manager in maintaining the print collateral and electronic content in collaboration with the brand marketing team on messaging, design, and visual storytelling.
- With guidance from the Manager, work directly with attorneys on CLE presentations, client briefings, blogs, and newsletters, focusing on content development and distribution lists.
- Coordinate all logistics for firm produced events and conference sponsorships, with support from the BD Coordinator; leverage event team support as needed.
- Update and add experience reports to the experience database for assigned practices.
- Monitor BD expenses against budget for assigned practices; review finance reports and correct misclassified expenses.
- Assist with scheduling and logistical arrangements for regular and special practice meetings, including agenda and materials development.
- Support omni channel marketing strategies and tactics for assigned practices.
- Occasionally assist with regional or office activities, including local events, booth setups, and day-of logistical support.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 3 years of business development, sales, marketing, or writing experience within a law firm.
- Ability to reside within a commutable distance to a firm office and come into the office 3-4 days per week.

Competencies
- Experience preparing proposals, RFP responses, pitch materials, presentations, and related materials is advantageous.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- High proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and information databases is a plus.
- Creative, resourceful, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent written and oral communication, including editing abilities.
- Proactive and confident, with the capacity to work under pressure and prioritize effectively.
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues at all levels.
- Consistent delivery of high-quality service to internal and external clients.
