Job Description
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Evansville Regional Economic Partnership (E-REP) provides strategic financial leadership for an organization focused on economic development outcomes in Evansville, IN. This onsite role partners closely with the President & CEO, the Board of Directors, and senior leadership to support financial health, compliance, and long-term sustainability.
Reporting into senior leadership, the CFO is responsible for driving financial strategy, oversight of core accounting operations, and clear performance reporting across the organization’s affiliated entities. Working with finance, operations, and cross-functional partners, you will strengthen internal controls, manage audits and grant-related reporting, and help ensure organizational stewardship through disciplined planning and scalable processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the President & CEO and the Board to develop and execute long-term financial strategy.
- Lead financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario planning to support strategic initiatives.
- Provide actionable financial insights through dashboards and performance metrics.
- Serve as staff lead to the Finance Committee and provide Board reporting.
- Oversee accounting functions, including the general ledger, AR/AP, and the monthly close.
- Produce timely and accurate financial statements, including multi-entity consolidated reporting.
- Manage cash flow, budgeting, and financial forecasting.
- Maintain a structured chart of accounts and reporting framework.
- Lead preparation and execution of multiple annual audits.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal and state regulations, and grant requirements.
- Oversee internal controls, policies, and financial procedures.
- Coordinate Form 990 filings and other regulatory reporting.
- Manage financial compliance and reporting for federal, state, and local grants.
- Oversee restricted funds and multi-year project budgets.
- Provide financial oversight for capital campaigns and pledge accounting.
- Lead financial systems strategy, including optimization of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Oversee integrations with CRM and operational systems.
- Drive process improvements, automation, and reporting efficiency.
- Lead AI usage governance for the organization.
- Lead and mentor accounting and operations staff; build a high-performing, process-driven finance function.
- Promote accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration across teams.
- Coordinate HR support for payroll processes and employee benefits.
- Oversee vendor relationships, contracts, and insurance programs.
- Strengthen organizational policies, procedures, and cross-functional processes.
Qualifications
- Minimum: 7 years of progressive financial leadership experience.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA designation: preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience managing complex or multi-entity financial environments.
- Demonstrated success leading audits and complex financial operations.
- Board-level communication and leadership presence.
- Preferred: nonprofit, economic development, or public-sector experience.
- Experience with grant compliance and fund accounting.
- ERP experience (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central preferred).
- Knowledge of HR and payroll processing operations.

Compensation and Benefits
Salary: USD 140,000 - 160,000 per year.
