Job Description

This on-site Controller role leads all financial and accounting activities in Los Angeles, ensuring accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and strategic partnership with executive leadership on budgeting and forecasting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, analyze, and interpret financial and accounting information to assess profitability, operating performance, budget adherence, and the organization’s overall financial health.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including supporting schedules and management reports.
  • Establish and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.
  • Prepare financial forecasts, budgets, and variance analyses and provide recommendations to executive management.
  • Coordinate tax planning activities with external tax professionals and ensure compliance with federal, state, local, payroll, sales, and other applicable tax requirements.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with internal and external auditors and coordinate audit activities.
  • Partner with Operations, Asset Protection, and executive leadership to monitor profitability, cost controls, inventory management, and loss prevention initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain business banking relationships and oversee cash management activities.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payment processing, and check disbursement functions.
  • Maintain the company’s accounting systems, books, records, and financial documentation.
  • Prepare and distribute internal and external financial reports as required by executive leadership.
  • Determine appropriate depreciation methods and rates for capitalized assets.
  • Evaluate and recommend insurance coverage to protect the organization from potential financial losses.
  • Coordinate with affiliated companies regarding employee benefit programs, including health insurance and retirement plans.
  • Maintain corporate registrations, licenses, permits, and related compliance documentation.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7–10 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and tax compliance.
  • Proficiency with accounting and payroll processing software such as Paylocity and QuickBooks, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual salary: $110,000–$125,000 (DOE)
  • Paid vacation: 1 week after first year, 2 weeks after second year, 3 weeks after seven years
  • Paid federal holidays: 6 per year
  • Paid sick leave: in accordance with California law and City of Los Angeles requirements
