Job Description
HonorHealth is seeking a Director of Finance to lead financial operations for its network from a on-site site in Mesa, AZ. This role centers on planning, budgeting, and performance analysis to safeguard fiscal health and drive strategic initiatives across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Oversees financial operations and strategies within the assigned area of focus.
- Contributes to the network's financial health by providing financial guidance and managing day-to-day activities, including financial strategy and planning.
- Develops and implements financial strategies to support the network's goals and objectives.
- Creates financial models to inform decisions on new services, market expansion, and service growth.
- Partners with senior leaders to develop long-term financial plans.
- Provides continuous improvement guidance across all finance functions including accounting, financial systems, internal controls, financial analysis, budgeting, labor productivity, supply chain, and reporting.
- Manages and mentors finance professionals.
- Supports and models a service-oriented culture focused on employee engagement, clinical quality, patient safety, service excellence, fiscal discipline, and patient experience.
- Builds and sustains effective collegial relationships with physicians, leaders, and peers across the network to enable proper financial governance.
- Maintains collaborative spirit and fosters strong partnering relationships.
- Gathers, interprets, and evaluates financial and key metrics impacting financial performance.
- Prepares and presents key financial metrics and indicators.
- Provides insights on financial performance and trends.
- Conducts financial modeling and forecasting to support long-term initiatives.
- Leads budgeting process within the assigned area, by working closely with department leaders to develop annual budgets.
- Monitors budgets and variances, providing analysis and recommendations for improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance - Required
- 4 years of healthcare-based experience - Required
- 8 years of Accounting/Analytics and/or Payor-based reimbursement experience - Required
Essential Functions
- Supervises, motivates, and manages direct reports that assist leadership in achieving financial and operational performance objectives and expectations including revenue growth, operating margin targets, effective expense management and overall efficiency measures.
- Utilizes analytical processes to ensure initiatives are achieved and opportunities for performance improvement in operational performance, clinical excellence, patient satisfaction, and employee engagement are realized.
- Oversees financial and analytical expertise and assistance to leadership and Department Managers by effectively preparing and communicating financial information as requested.
- Facilitates monthly operating reviews of financial performance, works with Managers on action plans as needed to get financial metrics back on track.
- Debriefs financial and operations leadership routinely on the monitoring of Financial Reporting, highlighting key trends and issues.
- Validates to leadership the financial impact of strategy, planning and business development initiatives as compiled by the corporate planning function for the operations area and/or service lines.
- Provides plan tracking to monitor if expected results are being realized.
- Partners with Integration, Quality and Continuous Improvement resources to balance prioritization of financial initiatives with those for clinical quality or patient experience.
- Helps interpret the financial impact of these initiatives and track impact to the financials.
- Leads the development, implementation and monitoring of operational and capital budgets at the facility.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
