The Director of Finance at St. Francis Xavier Catholic School System, Inc. leads strategic financial planning, accounting oversight, reporting, budgeting, and fiduciary stewardship from a central leadership position in Appleton, Wisconsin. The role is on site and focused on sustaining the system’s financial health and long-term viability.

Responsibilities

Financial Planning: Craft long range financial plans spanning 3 to 5 years to support system sustainability, including cash flow management.
Accounting Oversight: Supervise the Accounting Manager who handles the General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Purchasing, and Payroll; ensure staff training and compliance with federal, state, diocesan, and industry standards.
Financial Reporting: Produce monthly GAAP financial statements for administration, the Finance Committee and Board of Trustees, the Corporate Board, and the Diocese of Green Bay; complete Foundation Accounting and Financial Reporting; support annual audits and prepare work papers and financial statements as required.
Budget Management: Develop annual enrollment projections and evaluate tuition rates; prepare annual operating and capital budgets with adjustments for WPCP and SNSP; counsel leadership to ensure budget compliance; approve Capital Expenditures and develop the 5-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
Food Service Management: Oversee the food service program, including vendor contracts, DPI reporting compliance, and administration of the Free and Reduced Lunch Program from DPI.
Banking Relations: Manage system banking relationships, cash management, and financing needs; formulate investment strategies to grow investment income while safeguarding funds.
Parish Relationships: Build and maintain Parish relations with Business Managers through monthly meetings, determine annual investments (subsidy payments), and participate in Pastoral meetings.
Scholarship Administration: Overseer for needs-based and Angel Fund scholarship processes to maintain affordability for families.
Supervision: Lead and manage the performance of the Accounting Manager.
Fiduciary Responsibility: Ensure proper use of resources and perform additional tasks as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance required; CPA preferred.
Minimum of seven years of progressive management or leadership experience.
Private school and non-profit sector experience is preferred.
Experience in senior-level accounting or management roles.
Experience in strategic planning oversight and reporting.
