Job Description

Eco Chic Consignments offers a hands-on, leadership-driven Director of Finance and Accounting role onsite in Phoenix, AZ. You will build the finance infrastructure, own reporting, and partner with the executive team to guide growth. In 2026 you’ll lead a lean two-person finance operation, with a plan to add a Financial Analyst in 2027. The package is competitive: base salary $150,000-$165,000, annual bonuses up to 20%, for a total Year 1 cash opportunity of up to $198,000. You will work closely with a CEO who is direct and invested in your success and you’ll have a seat at the leadership table from day one. Responsibilities

  • Own the full month-end close with a target to close by day 15 each month
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, AP/AR, and general ledger
  • Replace the current contract Controller and operate as the hands-on accounting leader; collaborate as a two-person team with the Staff Accountant through 2026
  • Establish and maintain internal controls across ten locations covering cash handling, consignor payouts, and daily reconciliations
  • Ensure GAAP compliance and the integrity of all financial statements
  • Manage banking relationships, daily cash management, and bank reconciliations
  • Build and maintain a 13-week cash forecast to proactively manage liquidity
  • Own store-level P&L reporting to provide each location with a clear, accurate financial picture each month
  • Oversee the annual audit process and manage CBIZ engagement to deliver a clean, on-time audit
  • Lead annual tax compliance, coordinating federal, state, and local filings with CBIZ across jurisdictions
  • Own the commercial insurance broker relationship across all locations
  • Spend regular time in stores to understand operations beyond the books
  • Oversee payroll processing and reporting in partnership with HR and collaborate on labor-related financial matters

Reporting & Financial Planning — Starts Day One

  • Own the annual budgeting process end-to-end with a bottoms-up approach, delivering the 2027 budget before December 25
  • Develop and distribute monthly and quarterly financial reporting to leaders; ensure clarity and consistency for store managers and executives
  • Prepare board-ready financial packages including variance analysis, KPIs, and narrative commentary
  • Manage all lender communications and quarterly covenant reporting to maintain full credit compliance

Financial Infrastructure — Build When the Foundation Is Ready

  • Define core financial and operating metrics for high-performing stores
  • Build store-level reporting dashboards to enable real-time decision-making
  • Plan toward a fully integrated 3-statement financial model as a Year 2 priority
  • Support new store financial modeling and lease evaluation as the company grows

Systems & Technology

  • Support the Shopify migration and new POS implementation with data integrity from day one
  • Evaluate and plan the migration from QuickBooks to an enterprise ERP, targeting 2027
  • Implement financial automation to reduce manual tasks and improve close accuracy

Team

  • Lead a lean two-person team in 2026 and lay the groundwork for adding a Financial Analyst in 2027
  • Define the vision for the finance organization as the company grows

Your First 12–18 Months

  • Establish clean, independent accounting with on-time monthly closes and consistent controls across locations
  • Activate live store-level P&L reporting, providing data-driven insights for leaders
  • Eliminate manual processes by automating or systematizing high-frequency tasks
  • Maintain a 13-week rolling cash forecast reviewed with the CEO
  • Deliver the 2027 budget before Christmas with a bottoms-up approach from executives and store managers
  • Lead ERP evaluation and plan for 2027 implementation; set the foundation for forecasting toward a 3-statement model

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $150,000-$165,000, on-site in Phoenix, AZ
  • Annual Bonuses up to 20% tied to company and individual performance
  • Total Year 1 Cash up to ~$198,000 at maximum bonus
