Enterprise Architect, Finance & Legal Systems

Okta is building secure, intelligent, and connected business systems, and this role helps define the technology architecture strategy across Finance and Legal. You’ll modernize core enterprise platforms and enable more data-driven decision-making and automation by leveraging AI/ML and LLM capabilities alongside strong systems integration.

Compensation: USD 236,000 - 324,500 per year

Responsibilities

• Define the target-state architecture for Finance and Legal applications, aligning designs to enterprise strategy and growth objectives.
• Lead end-to-end architectural solutions for Finance and Legal systems, ensuring integration, scalability, and performance across the enterprise.
• Own a multi-year modernization roadmap across ERP, FP&A, Legal, and Sales Compensation systems.
• Apply identity-first security principles, integrating with Okta and other IAM solutions for authentication, authorization, and compliance.
• Architect and implement AI/ML-driven improvements to finance and legal workflows, including predictive forecasting, anomaly detection, spend optimization, contract risk scoring, and intelligent reconciliation.
• Partner with the Enterprise AI team to operationalize AI/ML solution models within G&A functions, ensuring alignment with business outcomes.
• Ensure reliable data flow across systems including ERP (NetSuite/Oracle), Coupa, Scout, Anaplan, Conga, and Xactly using APIs and middleware (Boomi), including unified data models for analytics and AI consumption.
• Identify where generative AI, NLP, and LLMs can be embedded into core Finance and Legal processes, such as financial reporting, close management, reconciliation, contract lifecycle management, and legal document automation.
• Drive functional and technical design and lead hands-on proof of concepts (POCs) and AI-driven automations to reduce manual effort.
• Lead from the front by piloting, prototyping, and demoing new solutions and technologies such as AI and automation.
• Collaborate across Finance, Legal, IT, Data, Compliance, Security, and Engineering teams to translate business goals into scalable, secure, and innovative technology solutions.
• Translate complex SaaS requirements (for example revenue recognition, contract risk management, and GDPR) into technical architectures.
• Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on Finance and Legal technology trends including subscription/usage-based billing, AI contract analytics, and compliance automation.
• Influence executives and decision-makers on solution architecture, system strategy, and adoption plans to drive operational excellence and transformation.
• Support and/or lead implementations and enhancements of ERP and legal tools, including Oracle, NetSuite, Coupa, Scout, Anaplan, and Conga, DocuSign.
• Establish governance for data privacy, SOX compliance, and access control across Finance and Legal systems.
• Support rollout of Data Governance by working with the Data Governance, business, and data warehousing teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
• TOGAF or similar Enterprise Architecture certification is a plus.
• 15+ years of software engineering experience, including significant time as an Architect or Principal in ERP Systems (Oracle/Netsuite/SAP), FP&A Systems (Anaplan) and/or CLM systems (Aptus/Conga/Ironclad).
• Multiple ERP full-cycle implementation experience (Oracle or NetSuite).
• Strong understanding of Finance process areas including Order to Cash, Record to Report, Source to Pay, Plan to Report (FP&A), Treasury, Credit Collection, Revenue Recognition, and Subscription Billing, plus Contract Life Cycle Management within Legal Ops.
• Hands-on architectural experience with functional and technical solutions across NetSuite (or Oracle), Aptus/Conga (or Ironclad), Anaplan, Coupa, Scout, and tax engines such as Avalara, Vertex, or OneSource, including data models and APIs for integrations.
• Experience architecting and delivering AI Agents using leading LLMs including Gemini, OpenAI, or Claude.
• Experience managing software and/or vendor selection with the end-state enterprise architecture in view.
• Proficiency with middleware such as MuleSoft, Workato, Boomi, or Informatica for connecting Finance, Legal, CRM, and data platforms.
• Familiarity with code, configuration, and system performance standards/reviews for quality, scalability, and compliance with enterprise standards.
• Proficiency with AWS, Azure, or GCP, plus knowledge of data lakes/warehouses such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery for SaaS revenue and compliance analytics.
• Identity and security knowledge including SSO, OAuth, SAML, SCIM, and Zero Trust, with hands-on integration experience in Okta or similar IAM platforms.
• Occasional travel to office locations for project and team collaboration meetings and offsites.
