Finance Controller

The Finance Controller role is an onsite leadership position in Troy, Michigan, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer. The successful candidate will oversee accounting operations, drive process improvements, ensure financial compliance and accuracy, and provide strategic reporting to guide leadership decisions and support growth.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management, and cash flow oversight.
• Ensure financial transactions are accurate, properly recorded, and completed in a timely manner.
• Prepare and present financial reporting and analysis to support informed business decisions.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, including two direct reports.
• Collaborate with department leaders to provide financial insight and identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Manage the monthly close process, including reconciliations and preparation of financial statements.
• Analyze monthly results, identify variances, and provide clear explanations and reporting to leadership.
• Monitor and manage cash flow, working capital, and financial planning activities.
• Lead the year-end close process and coordinate with external auditors.
• Oversee tax preparation and compliance in coordination with third-party providers or the company’s CPA firm, including R&D tax credit reporting.
• Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
• Ensure timely completion of physical inventory counts (monthly, quarterly, and annually) including raw materials, work in progress, and finished goods.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication, leadership, time management, and organizational skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across departments in a team-oriented environment.

Compensation

Salary: USD 110,000 to 125,000 per year.
