Responsibilities

• Sells financing, service contracts, and other products to customers purchasing a vehicle
• Explains aftermarket products and extended warranties clearly to customers
• Converts cash deals to financed transactions
• Builds and maintains relationships with multiple finance sources, including the manufacturer
• Processes finance and lease deals accurately to secure lender approvals
• Conducts business ethically and professionally
• Completes federal, state, and dealer paperwork related to vehicle transactions
• Complies with applicable laws affecting new and used vehicle and finance departments
• Completes paperwork for sales and leases efficiently and accurately the first time
• Double-checks paperwork for correct title, lien information, taxes, etc., before forwarding to accounting
• Obtains and maintains a current state insurance license and completes continuing education as needed
• Explains dealership service procedures and policies to customers
• Continuously seeks new lending institutions to secure competitive rates and programs
• Manages the alternative finance source program to ensure multiple sources are available
• Maintains insurance files
• Establishes a program to achieve 100 percent turnover to the F&I department
• Provides the sales team with up-to-date information on finance and lease programs
• Trains the sales staff on the benefits of financing, insurance, and extended service programs
• Collaborates with sales managers to maintain reasonable profit on each sale
• Coordinates finance forecasting with sales forecasts to hit desired penetration and income
• Ensures collection of all finance and insurance fees
• Handles all credit applications
• Prepares reports on finance penetration
• Works with the general sales manager to set and achieve department goals
• Attends managers meetings and provides rate quotations
• Develops guidelines to maximize customer satisfaction in dealings
• Processes end-of-month commission sheets for payroll
• Maintains current supply of contracts and paperwork needed to finalize deals
• Maintains a professional appearance and a clean, professional work environment

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Associate degree or bachelor’s degree preferred
• Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, and apply basic algebra and geometry concepts
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Must obtain and maintain any certificates, licenses, and registrations required by the dealership
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license meeting insurability requirements
