Financial Controller

Fat-Cat Fish, LLC is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead the company’s financial and administrative operations from our onsite location in Bellingham, Washington. Working in close collaboration with the Owner, this role ensures precise financial reporting, adherence to regulatory standards, and support for LEAN manufacturing practices across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Manage all accounting functions including the general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll.
• Maintain compliance with GAAP, SOX, and other regulatory requirements.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and account analyses to keep financial records accurate.
• Oversee cash flow management and banking activities to optimize interest earnings.
• Prepare detailed financial reports and statements for internal management and external stakeholders.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and broader financial planning initiatives.
• Execute timely month-end and year-end close procedures.
• Supervise the use of SAP Business One for accounting operations.
• Handle technical accounting tasks including journal entries, double-entry bookkeeping, and account reconciliation.
• Support the development of internal controls in line with SOX requirements.
• Coordinate with auditors to ensure compliance with all audit requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
• Extensive experience in accounting and HR roles with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency with SAP or SAP Business One accounting software.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and technical accounting concepts.
• Proven ability to perform balance sheet reconciliations, account analyses, and inventory control.
• Solid knowledge of cash management processes and payroll systems.
• Excellent analytical skills with a solid grasp of debits and credits, GL reconciliation, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Ability to lead effectively while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational skills and professional integrity.

Overview

Experience with SAP B1 is required. This on-site Controller role oversees the organization’s financial and administrative operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and LEAN manufacturing. The Controller collaborates with the Owner to maintain smooth operations and the integrity of financial processes.

Pay

USD 130,000.00 – 160,000.00 per year
