Job Description
48 Electric is seeking a Financial Controller to lead day to day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance and the monthly close, while delivering financial leadership to fuel growth. This onsite role in Chandler, AZ reports to the CFO and offers a clear path to a CFO position as the company expands. You will join a collaborative, growth focused team that values technical excellence and proactive problem solving. Responsibilities
- Direct all day to day accounting activities, maintain the general ledger, and manage the monthly close cycle.
- Oversee job costing and monthly Work-in-Progress reporting using percentage-of-completion methods.
- Monitor project profitability by identifying cost overruns, underbilling, overbilling, and potential financial risks.
- Collaborate with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and cash flow management.
- Track change orders, contract billing terms, SOVs, and overall project financial performance.
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Support external audits, lender reporting, and surety bonding requirements.
- Manage the company cash position, banking relationships, and credit facilities.
- Maintain certificates of insurance, surety schedules, and policy renewals.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, sales and use tax, payroll taxes, and 1099 reporting.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchase orders, and vendor/customer accounting processes.
- Develop and mentor future accounting staff as the finance team grows.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Solid knowledge of GAAP and construction accounting principles.
- Experience with percentage-of-completion accounting, job costing, and WIP reporting.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft 365 (including Excel, Outlook, and Teams).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications
- CPA, CCIFP (Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional), or CMA designation
- Experience with Procore or other construction ERP/accounting platforms
- Background in electrical contracting, commercial construction, or mission-critical/data center projects
- Experience managing surety relationships, bonding capacity, and lender reporting
- Familiarity with Monday.com or similar project/workflow management software
