Job Description

The Financial Controller at Owen's Craft Mixers will manage all financial operations, including close cycles, reporting, cash flow management, inventory accounting, internal controls, and compliance, while partnering with Operations, Sales, Supply Chain, and executive leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close cycles.
  • Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure timely account reconciliations.
  • Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, fixed assets, accruals, and cash management.
  • Assemble monthly reporting packages for executive leadership and the Board.
  • Oversee all accounts payable workflows, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and reconciliations.
  • Direct accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, collections, and cash application to support timely revenue recognition.
  • Track aging reports and actively resolve overdue balances.
  • Create rolling cash flow forecasts.
  • Monitor working capital components such as inventory, receivables, and payables.
  • Recommend strategies to optimize cash conversion and operational efficiency.
  • Manage inventory accounting across co-manufacturers and warehouse locations.
  • Monitor inventory valuation, standard costs, freight, manufacturing variances, and landed costs.
  • Collaborate with Operations to enhance inventory accuracy and reporting.
  • Manage the corporate credit card program, including policy development, employee training, expense compliance, and monthly reconciliation.
  • Establish corporate card policies to ensure appropriate spending, timely reporting, and adherence to guidelines.
  • Monitor employee expense reporting and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, controls, and cost management.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to ensure spending aligns with budgets and financial policies.

Requirements

  • Five to eight years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on accounts payable and accounts receivable management.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Bill.com (preferred), and other accounting tools; strong Excel skills.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and own financial processes.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
