Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis
Job Description
Career Now Brands is seeking a hands-on Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis to own budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting while supporting better business decisions through profitability and ROI analysis. The role reports to the President and partners with the leadership team to translate industry and data signals into the next plan and investment choices.
Location and Work Style
- Location: Royal Oak, MI
- Work setup: Hybrid
- Hours: Ability to work Eastern Time Zone hours
Key Responsibilities
- Own the annual budget, rolling forecast, and monthly variance analysis, including leadership-ready explanations of what the numbers mean
- Build and maintain client- and account-level profitability analysis, including revenue, media spend, delivery cost, and contribution margin by client, brand, and product
- Analyze performance versus plan across revenue, active logos, revenue per account, retention and churn, and the unit economics beneath those metrics (including CPL, cost per hire, and media margin)
- Create business cases and an ROI framework for new projects, products, and headcount, then measure results after execution
- Partner with sales and marketing leadership on pricing, deal structure, and quota and commission modeling
- Produce monthly and quarterly reporting packages for leadership and the board, including KPI dashboards and accompanying narrative
- Own cash flow forecasting and coordinate with accounting partners through the monthly close to ensure timely, reconciled, and defensible reporting
- Transform data from HubSpot, Snowflake, QuickBooks, and ad platforms into reliable financial and operating metrics, working with the data team instead of rebuilding in spreadsheets
- Identify and size opportunities such as underpriced services, underserved segments, adjacent verticals, partnerships, and acquisition targets
- Track industry, competitive, and macro trends (including freight cycle, driver capacity, labor market, recruitment marketing, and the AI landscape) and translate insights into planning implications
- Improve the financial operating cadence through cleaner inputs and fewer one-off spreadsheets
Requirements
- 6+ years in FP&A, corporate finance, consulting, investment banking, or a comparable analytical finance role, including experience owning the forecast end to end
- Advanced Excel modeling, including driver-based operating models, scenario analysis, and unit economics models designed to be maintained and trusted
- Strong SQL, or the ability to reach that level quickly, with comfort querying a data warehouse and using BI tools
- Experience analyzing a recurring-revenue or services business, including cohorts, retention and churn, revenue per account, and contribution margin
- Working knowledge of GAAP-basis financials and the monthly close sufficient to partner with accounting without needing to be a CPA or similar role (CPA, CFA, or MBA welcome, not required)
- A track record of influencing decisions with recommendations rather than only reporting variances
- Strong communication skills that convert analysis into an actionable point of view for non-financial audiences
- Ability to clearly challenge assumptions when the data does not support the plan, and defend conclusions with underlying work
- Accountability for number accuracy and the quality of decisions driven by analysis
- Resourcefulness to reach defensible answers with imperfect data and to automate what should not be manual
- Productivity focused on analysis that changes decisions versus analysis that only appears impressive
Preferred and Nice-to-Have Background
- Experience related to marketing services, media buying, staffing and recruiting, or HR tech
- Exposure to HubSpot, Snowflake, or Tableau
- Board-level reporting experience
- M&A or diligence exposure
Tools and Technologies
- Excel, Google Sheets, QuickBooks, HubSpot, Snowflake, SQL, Tableau
- GA4, Google ad platforms, Meta, programmatic ad platforms
- AI tooling for analysis and automation
