Responsibilities
- Own the full-cycle accounting function including AP, AR, payroll support, GL, month-end close, and reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts
- Oversee job costing by tracking labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs against project budgets
- Maintain WIP schedules, perform percentage-of-completion accounting, and manage over/under billings
- Prepare and send AIA style progress billings and lien waivers for commercial projects
- Produce monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and job profitability reports for ownership
- Manage cash flow forecasting and weekly AP runs, with follow-ups on collections as needed
- Administer sales tax, 1099s, business licenses, workers' comp audits, and liability insurance renewals
- Collaborate with outside CPA on year-end close, tax filings, and financial reviews
- Continuously improve processes, controls, and reporting within QuickBooks and supporting tools
Requirements
- 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including time in a closely-held business
- Construction accounting experience required, comfortable with job costing, WIP schedules, retainage, and AIA billing
- Strong QuickBooks proficiency (Desktop or Online); QuickBooks Enterprise / Contractor edition is a plus
- Solid understanding of GAAP as it applies to a contractor
- Excel prowess with pivot tables, lookups, and clean formatting
- Excellent attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication, and discretion with sensitive financial information
- Self-starter who can operate independently while being willing to roll up sleeves when needed

Nice to have
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA license or progress toward one
- Experience with construction-specific software (Buildertrend, JobTread, Procore, Sage 100 Contractor, etc.)
- Experience as a #2 to an owner-operator, translating gut instinct into clean numbers

Salary: $50,000 - $87,000 per year
