Job Description

This onsite role in Greenwood Village, CO offers a benefits-forward environment with competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support you and your family. The Assistant Director of Finance and Accounting will oversee all accounting and finance functions, drawing on proven managerial experience and deep expertise in accounting principles.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor accounting personnel, providing ongoing training and development
  • Review work products such as schedules, reconciliations, financial statements, budgets, and filings required by state statutes
  • Prepare or review audit workpapers, financial statements, and footnotes for review by external auditors
  • Collaborate with managers, clients, legal teams, auditors, and outside consultants to meet deadlines and deliver strong client service
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with clients, staff, and other stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Contribute to other projects and duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and an active Colorado CPA license
  • 5 to 8 years of relevant experience with strong accounting and analytical skills
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Proven experience in preparing audit financial statements, footnotes, and management reporting
  • Ability to deliver excellent client service, flexibility, and a collaborative mindset
  • Strong written, technical writing, and verbal communication skills
  • Sound judgment, analytical problem solving, and decision making
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple clients and projects
  • Strong prioritization, efficiency, and accuracy in work
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, and general ledger systems
  • Knowledge of GAAP and GASB; governmental accounting is a plus
  • Availability to attend quarterly or monthly board meetings, with some meetings in the evening
  • Occasional extra hours may be required to support workload and timely reporting
