Job Description

The Chief Financial Officer role at Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital offers a mission-driven leadership opportunity onsite in Warsaw, Indiana. You will provide financial stewardship across expense management, revenue cycle, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and capital planning to advance the hospital’s mission and strategic objectives. This position fosters collaboration with shared business partners in Accounting, Patient Access, Health Information Management, Revenue Management, Physician Practice Services, corporate Managed Care, and Human Resources to optimize daily and monthly financial operations while supporting high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial leadership to hospital staff and management to foster ownership and decisions that positively influence financial performance.
  • Shape and execute strategies for revenue growth and margin improvement to achieve financial goals.
  • Engage in state and federal funding initiatives to enhance reimbursements for the facility and providers.
  • Analyze costs, operations, and service-line forecast data with senior leaders to track progress toward financial targets.
  • Create and enforce financial policies and procedures, along with short- and long-term goals, objectives, and plans.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and eliminate non-value costs in collaboration with other senior leaders.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulatory requirements and adhere to applicable standards.
  • Collaborate with providers and local teams to monitor quality metrics and align them with financial objectives.
  • Oversee General Ledger accuracy and ensure timely reconciliations of bank accounts with the GL.
  • Monitor cash receipts and disbursements for accuracy and internal control adherence.
  • Prepare and present timely monthly departmental operating reports to staff and senior leadership.
  • Prepare monthly exhibits detailing third-party reimbursement allowances.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Adhere to all policies and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business related field required
  • Master's Degree in Accounting, Business Administrations, or Healthcare Administration preferred
  • 8-10 years of progressive experience in healthcare financial management required
  • 5-7 years of experience in a senior financial leadership role within a hospital or healthcare system required
  • 1-3 years of recent acute care hospital CFO experience in a proprietary health system preferred

  • Commitment to regulatory compliance and maintaining high ethical standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
  • Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) preferred
