Job Description

Cusack's Masonry Restoration, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Controller and Finance Manager to steer financial operations for a growing construction contractor. This on-site role in Hubbardston, MI, combines GAAP accounting, payroll management, budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and project costing to support ongoing growth and operational efficiency.

Summary

This position functions as a practical finance partner, overseeing accounting and financial management for a expanding construction business, with responsibilities spanning GAAP compliance, payroll, budgeting, cash flow, and project cost oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Process payroll and certified payroll reporting
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting reports
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts
  • Coordinate month-end and year-end closing activities
  • Collaborate with the external CPA
  • Maintain accurate job costing
  • Monitor project profitability and labor performance
  • Track work-in-progress (WIP)
  • Prepare project cost reports and aging reports
  • Support project managers with financial information
  • Monitor budgets and cost overruns
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts
  • Assist with budgeting and financial planning
  • Develop KPIs and management dashboards
  • Analyze profitability by project, customer, and business segment
  • Recommend process improvements and internal controls
  • Support strategic planning and business growth initiatives
  • Maintain accounting and project documentation
  • Assist with contract administration
  • Ensure compliance with payroll, tax, insurance, and lien requirements
  • Coordinate audit and reporting requests
  • Support estimating and operations as needed
  • Oversee licensing and other regulatory requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of accounting experience
  • Construction accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of job costing
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Experience with QuickBooks
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • High degree of integrity and attention to detail

Compensation

Compensation will be competitive and based on experience. Salary range is $60,000 to $85,000 per year. Benefits include paid time off, holidays, and additional benefits based on qualifications.
