Job Description

Dental Office Florham Park, a growing dental practice in East Hanover, NJ, is seeking a Dental Financial Coordinator to join the team onsite. In this role, you will verify insurance benefits, present treatment estimates, manage patient billing, submit and follow up on claims, and maintain precise financial records to support the practice’s financial health and a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Confirm insurance eligibility and benefits before patient visits.
  • Create accurate treatment cost estimates based on coverage and outline patient financial responsibility.
  • Discuss treatment options and financing with patients to support higher case acceptance.
  • Submit electronic claims through Dentrix promptly and accurately.
  • Track and follow up on outstanding, delayed, and denied claims to secure timely reimbursement.
  • Post insurance payments, process adjustments, and reconcile patient ledgers.
  • Collect co-pays, deductibles, balances, and payments at the point of service.
  • Review EOBs and resolve discrepancies with insurance carriers.
  • Maintain HIPAA-compliant, accurate patient financial records.
  • Coordinate with doctors, hygienists, and front desk staff to ensure correct treatment documentation and billing.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and contribute to achieving office collection goals.
  • Generate financial and insurance reports using Dentrix and Microsoft Office.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Dental Financial Coordinator, Insurance Coordinator, or Dental Treatment Coordinator.
  • Strong working knowledge of Dentrix practice management software.
  • Solid understanding of PPO dental plans, benefit verification, claim submission, coordination of benefits, pre-authorizations, and appeals.
  • Experience presenting treatment plans and discussing patient financial arrangements with professionalism.
  • Knowledge of CDT dental procedure codes and dental insurance billing processes.
  • Experience managing accounts receivable, insurance aging reports, and patient collections.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly and empathetically.
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a busy dental office.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with payment plans and third-party financing programs such as CareCredit is a plus.

Compensation & Location

Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
