Director of Finance and Corporate Compliance
Job Description
Lead finance administration and corporate compliance across payroll, tax, governance, risk, insurance, contracts, and debt.
Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee payroll administration for approximately 350+ employees, including bi-weekly processing.
- Maintain payroll records, internal controls, and payroll system administration.
- Manage payroll audits and ensure accurate, timely payroll execution.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations.
- Oversee payroll tax filings and payments, including compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements.
- Coordinate responses to payroll tax notices and agency inquiries.
- Lead year-end payroll reporting, including W-2s and related filings.
- Own Affordable Care Act (ACA) reporting activities and ensure required forms are prepared and distributed accurately.
- Coordinate federal, state, and local tax reporting requirements and prepare/review supporting schedules for tax filings.
- Manage tax-related accounting activities, reconciliations, and ongoing compliance processes.
- Serve as the primary contact for external tax advisors and auditors.
- Support annual financial reporting and compliance initiatives.
- Maintain corporate records, registrations, licenses, and permits; ensure compliance with applicable business regulations and reporting requirements.
- Manage annual corporate filings, renewals, and ongoing monitoring of compliance obligations with corrective action recommendations.
- Administer corporate insurance programs: property, casualty, liability, workers’ compensation, and executive coverage.
- Coordinate annual insurance renewals and policy negotiations; manage claims administration with brokers and carriers.
- Identify organizational risks and recommend mitigation strategies; maintain business continuity and risk management documentation.
- Act as primary internal administrator for contracts and legal documentation.
- Review and coordinate commercial agreements, vendor contracts, leases, and related documentation; coordinate with external legal counsel when needed.
- Maintain records for company-owned and leased facilities.
- Administer corporate loans, lines of credit, and financing agreements, including tracking debt obligations, payment schedules, and covenant requirements.
- Coordinate lender and financial institution reporting requirements; support banking relationships and cash management activities.
- Assist ownership with financial planning and capital structure decisions; act as a trusted advisor on finance, compliance, and risk matters.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls and organizational compliance.
- Evaluate and improve administrative and financial processes to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
- Oversee the company budgeting process.
- Lead special projects involving acquisitions, financing activities, regulatory changes, and organizational growth.
- Support strategic planning and operational decision-making.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in finance, payroll, compliance, accounting, risk management, or related disciplines.
- Experience supporting senior leadership or business ownership.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple business functions independently.
- Thorough knowledge of payroll administration and payroll tax regulations.
- Strong understanding of federal and state compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of insurance, risk management, and corporate governance practices.
- Experience reviewing contracts and managing vendor relationships.
- Understanding of debt structures, banking relationships, and financing agreements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organization and project management abilities.
- High level of integrity and discretion with confidential information.
- Advanced proficiency in ERP systems, payroll systems, Microsoft Excel, and business software applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally travel to company locations, financial institutions, or vendor meetings.

- Salary range: $140,000 - $190,000 per year
