Job Description
Finance Coordinator position in Brookline, MA with New England Community Services, focused on daily accounting, financial reporting, grant compliance, and budget oversight.
Responsibilities
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, processing invoices, payments, and reimbursements
- Maintain the general ledger and supervise month-end close cycles
- Prepare financial statements and internal/external reports
- Reconcile accounts on a monthly basis using QuickBooks
- Monitor grant and contract budgets to ensure compliance
- Generate reports for grants, contracts, and DCF requirements
- Support audits and maintain comprehensive documentation
- Process bi-weekly payroll via ADP
- Handle benefits billing, reconciliations, and payroll deductions
- Ensure tax filing compliance, including 941s, W-2s, and 1099s
- Assist with annual and program budgeting processes
- Track revenue and expenses and provide variance analysis
- Support special projects such as foundation setup and cost allocation
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field
- 3+ years of accounting or finance experience; nonprofit or government setting is a plus
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel
- Knowledge of nonprofit/fund accounting and grant compliance
- Detail-oriented, well-organized, and able to meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills

Preferred qualifications
- ADP payroll experience
- Familiarity with DCF or Massachusetts state reporting
- Foundation or multi-entity nonprofit experience
- CPA or working toward CPA certification
Work Environment & Schedule
- Full-time exempt position based in Brookline, MA
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, four on-site days and one remote day per week
- Occasional travel and some evening or weekend hours may be required
