Job Description
Join a growing agricultural seed and cattle organization based in Livingston, WI. This on-site Finance Lead role blends hands-on financial operations with strategic input to support daily financial management, budgeting, reporting, and long-term planning. Responsibilities
- Lead the annual budgeting process for the business, crop operations, and projects.
- Develop and monitor financial reports, year-end analyses, and profitability metrics.
- Oversee billing, invoicing, accounts receivable, and depreciation schedules.
- Coordinate tax preparation and maintain comprehensive financial records.
- Manage loans, lender relationships, and capital expenditure planning.
- Administer payroll through ADP and oversee profit-sharing calculations.
- Support crop marketing strategies, including commodity pricing, hedging, and risk management.
- Coordinate cattle purchases and provide financial analysis for livestock decisions.
- Prepare year-end intercompany agreements and oversee financial activity across multiple entities.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and strengthen profitability.
- Serve as a core member of the leadership team, delivering financial insight to inform business decisions and long-term strategy.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Agricultural Business, Economics or an equivalent combination of education and work experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of seed production, grain marketing, and livestock operations is preferred.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance analysis.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Proficiency in accounting principles, including general ledger management and month-end close activities.
- Ability to prepare, review, and interpret financial statements and related reports with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent analytical skills for identifying trends, risks, and opportunities and providing data-driven recommendations.
- Experience with financial software and spreadsheets; comfortable working with data and reporting tools.
- Clear and professional communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to work on-site, manage multiple priorities, and maintain confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial agricultural environment.
- Interest in growing into expanded leadership responsibilities over time.
