Finance Manager
Job Description
CommTank, Inc. is seeking a Finance Manager to lead the company’s finance and accounting function and strengthen the integrity of core accounting processes. Based in Wakefield, MA, this in-person role partners across teams to support reporting, budgeting, compliance, and strategic decision-making.
Role overview
In this position, you will oversee financial operations end to end, ensuring accurate financial reporting and well-maintained accounting records. You will also collaborate with leadership and project teams to support planning, contract discussions, and performance tracking, using construction management tools such as Jobtread (or a similar platform) and QuickBooks.
Key responsibilities
- Manage financial and accounting activities, including financial reporting, accounts payable/receivable, general ledger maintenance, and audit preparation.
- Partner with the CEO on strategic financial decisions, including capital investments, pricing, and growth opportunities.
- Work with project managers to monitor project schedules, resource allocation, and contract compliance using construction management software such as Jobtread (or a similar platform).
- Maintain transparency and accountability by ensuring adherence to financial policies, regulatory standards, and internal controls.
- Develop and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports with variance analyses and cash flow forecasts.
- Support contract negotiations by reviewing terms related to budgets, timelines, and scope of work alongside sales and project management.
- Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team of five, focusing on best practices, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience.
- CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification.
- Demonstrated experience in finance or accounting with a strong understanding of project estimating, contracts, and schematics.
- QuickBooks proficiency.
- Exceptional analytical skills with clear communication.
- Excellent time management and the ability to prioritize multiple projects efficiently.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
Location and pay
- Work location: In person, Wakefield, MA
- Salary: USD 92,000 - 110,000 per year
