Job Description

Universal Flow Controls is hiring a Finance Manager to support the company’s day-to-day financial operations and strengthen how the business tracks orders, margin, and cash performance. Based in Laredo, TX (onsite), this role focuses on keeping the books accurate, improving collections, and ensuring forecasts reflect reality.

The position blends month-end close, order profitability analysis, cash flow forecasting, financial reporting, and cross-functional work with sales and operations to help the company get paid faster and protect margin.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date books in the company’s ERP.
  • Ensure every vendor bill is recorded and able to identify what is missing at any given time.
  • Pay vendors on time.
  • Complete month-end close within the first week of the following month.
  • Attend order kickoff meetings where expected profit for each order is established.
  • When an order is paid, close it out and calculate what was actually earned after material cost, freight and customs, and financing costs.
  • Identify margin leakage and partner with sales to address it, including minimum markup rules.
  • Own and maintain the cash flow forecast with high accuracy, treating forecast quality as a primary habit.
  • Lead collections by coordinating with operations and sales to get paid sooner using strategies across the full order process, not only reminder emails.
  • Track and improve the cash conversion cycle (days from material spend to customer payment).
  • Build financial reporting workflows with management.
  • Prepare and interpret financial statements, including profit & loss, balance sheets, and cash flow analyses, ensuring accuracy.
  • Present weekly and monthly numbers to leadership as a clear story that supports action.
  • Help develop budgets and track sales goals.
  • Oversee corporate accounting activities, including general ledger reconciliation, accounts payable and accounts receivable management, cost accounting, and accrual accounting processes.
  • Develop and maintain financial projection models to support strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and investment decision-making.
  • Grow the credit suppliers extend to the company.
  • Support customer and supplier onboarding and build the compliance process.
  • Handle company purchasing for office and warehouse supplies and manage service vendors such as cleaning, pest control, and forklift maintenance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with bookkeeping, month-end close, and financial statements.
  • Comfort with cash flow forecasting and accounts receivable.

Technologies

  • ERP
  • AI models
  • Custom AI agents

Benefits

  • $20.00 to $25.00 per hour, depending on experience.
  • Profit sharing tied to company performance.
  • A path to equity as finance develops into its own business unit.
  • Custom AI agents and training on tools.
  • For the right candidate in Mexico: possible TN visa support and housing support for Laredo days.
  • Direct access to ownership and decision-makers.
  • Flexible schedule.
  • Professional development assistance.

How Success Will Be Measured

  • The cash conversion cycle shortens.
  • Average days to get paid decreases.
  • The cash flow forecast matches reality.
  • The books close on time each month.
  • Every dollar received is allocated to the proper use.

Nice to Have

  • English and Spanish, written and spoken.
  • CPA or CMA.
  • Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or logistics.
  • A valid US visa if based in Mexico.

Your Tools and Working Style

  • Use best-in-class AI models and custom AI agents built for the role.
  • Many elements of order analysis are automated, with focus on discipline to keep data correct, forecasts current, and follow-ups going until money is received.
  • No AI expertise required, but curiosity and willingness to learn with the team are expected.

Who you are matters as much as the numbers: you enjoy analysis and figuring out why trends change, prioritize accuracy, handle routine work without constant reminders, and prefer owning outcomes rather than working through someone else’s task list.
