Job Description

The Financial Analyst role in Dealer Finance at BMO Financial Group is based in Chicago and onsite. The analyst analyzes credit information to support lending decisions for a Commercial Banking portfolio and structures loans while maintaining strong client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate credit data to guide lending decisions for new and existing Commercial Banking loans and credit solutions within an assigned client portfolio, delivering decisions and recommendations in line with bank policies while upholding high service standards.
  • Conduct financial analysis, assess creditworthiness, prepare detailed credit summaries, and evaluate clients' financial performance and risk profiles.
  • Apply financial models and analytical tools to gauge repayment capacity and propose appropriate loan structures and collateral.
  • Provide recommendations to the credit manager to support credit approvals.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and ensure compliance, identifying deteriorating credit conditions as needed.
  • Review metrics and industry trends to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Assist in negotiating loan terms and structuring loans that align with client needs while respecting the bank's risk appetite and policies.
  • Develop proposals to capture new business and expand client relationships.
  • Build and maintain client relationships to support long-term financial performance in collaboration with the Relationship Manager and business partners.
  • Structure and support new, renewal, and extension loans aligned with client needs and policy guidelines.
  • Perform financial analysis and risk assessments for clients in the assigned portfolio to inform decision-making.
  • Continuously monitor portfolio performance and take corrective action when required.
  • Minimize risk exposure by adhering to credit policies, regulatory standards, and operational guidelines.
  • Serve as a primary contact for service requests, ensuring expectations are met or exceeded and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Contribute to initiatives that improve service quality, acquire new business, and expand client relationships.
  • Identify revenue and cross-selling opportunities to drive portfolio growth and identify share of wallet opportunities.
  • Leverage analysis tools to grow a portfolio that meets return targets and proactively evaluate client returns.
  • Maintain timely and accurate data entry in BMO systems and use data to support decision-making.
  • Focus on a defined business group within BMO, with potential enterprise-wide considerations.
  • Exercise judgement to diagnose and resolve issues within established guidelines.
  • Work independently on a range of complex tasks, including unique scenarios.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
  • Take prudent risks within the Risk Management Framework, aligning with policy frameworks, standards, and applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Typically 3 to 4 years of relevant experience in credit, lending instruments, or financial operations within a corporate or banking environment.
  • Experience in the financial industry is required.
  • Commercial Banking experience is desirable.
  • Knowledge or experience with loan or lending operations is required.
  • Credit qualifications and related knowledge aligned with the portfolio requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree is required; preferred fields include Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting, with alternatives considered if coupled with relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency through education or professional experience.

Compensation

Salary: $69,000.00 - $127,800.00 per year
