Job Description
Northwest Ambulance is seeking an on site Financial Controller in Everett, WA to lead the accounting function, ensure financial accuracy, and provide visibility into company performance while partnering with executive leadership and operations in a fast paced EMS healthcare environment.

Responsibilities
- Financial reporting and close Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close with a target of less than 15 days. Prepare accurate P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reports that are audit-ready.
- Billing oversight Reconcile third party billing reports against actual cash receipts. Monitor collection rates, adjustments, write-offs, and billing fees. Evaluate and make recommendations on the third party billing relationship.
- Cash flow management Monitor daily and weekly cash position; forecast short and long term needs; ensure liquidity for payroll, operations, and growth.
- Fleet and asset accounting Oversee accounting for the ambulance fleet and medical equipment, including depreciation schedules and capital expenditure planning.
- Operational and KPI reporting Build reporting that connects operational metrics (units, runs, staffing) to financial outcomes. Analyze labor costs, unit utilization, and departmental margins.
- Accounting operations Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, and payroll accounting via ADP Workforce Now and QuickBooks Enterprise. Manage WA PFML, L&I, and cares fund compliance.
- Controls and process improvement Establish strong financial controls and improve systems and reporting processes.
- Leadership Manage and develop accounting staff; communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
Requirements
- 5–10+ years of accounting experience
- Strong background in financial reporting, month-end close, and reconciliations
- Experience working with or overseeing third-party billing or revenue cycle
- Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now or equivalent payroll platform
- Knowledge of Washington State compliance: WA PFML, L&I, and cares fund

Compensation
Salary range USD 140,000 - 175,000 per year. Placement within the range depends on CPA status, depth of EMS or healthcare experience, and billing oversight background.
