Job Description

Drive Technology FP&A for Western Alliance Bank as a senior finance partner supporting IT leadership in Phoenix.

Responsibilities

  • Support the FP&A IT function with recommendations aligned to financial and business requirements.
  • Coordinate across multiple IT units to strengthen teamwork, communication, collaboration, and follow-through despite competing priorities.
  • Manage core Technology FP&A calendar deliverables, including monthly close, forecasting, annual budgeting, variance analysis, and management reporting; ensure accuracy and on-time completion.
  • Perform analysis and lead continuous improvement of Technology monthly financial reporting, covering actuals, forecasts, budget variances, key drivers, risks, opportunities, and executive-level commentary.
  • Build in-depth understanding of Technology financial data and underlying systems; reconcile reporting across source systems and identify and resolve data-quality issues proactively.
  • Develop detailed understanding of Technology cost drivers, including labor and headcount, contractors, software, hardware, professional services, projects, and other technology-related expenses.
  • Define and implement KPIs and advanced analytics to provide meaningful feedback to the IT and Finance teams.
  • Improve and simplify processes, drive standardization, and build scalable systems that support business growth.
  • Ensure adherence to controls and systems while developing new processes supporting a fast-growing IT environment across the organization.
  • Apply an entrepreneurial mindset with proactive problem-solving and process improvement; stay eager to learn, grow, and drive innovation in a changing business landscape.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business, or closely related discipline (or demonstrated proven equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of relevant post-education experience in financial planning and analysis; strong preference for experience supporting an IT business unit.
  • Knowledge of project accounting principles, practices, and methods and how to apply them to project-related issues.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with key stakeholders and senior leadership across the organization.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and other MS Office application skills.
  • Oracle and Workfront proficiency is preferable.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills; ability to self-motivate, work independently and collaboratively, provide strong customer service, and plan and manage multiple tasks.
