Job Description

SELC (Southern Environmental Law Center) offers a hybrid work model with flexibility to work remotely up to two days per week, plus a benefits package designed to support your health, family, and long-term security. In this full-time, non-exempt role, you will contribute to both Human Resources and finance operations, helping keep internal processes organized and accurate while supporting a team that values an equitable and inclusive workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the workers’ compensation policy by tracking and maintaining required provider panel postings.
  • Support employee benefits administration, including open enrollment and coordination of the anniversary appreciation program.
  • Assist with payroll-related processes, including transportation incentives, reimbursements, and payroll adjustment tracking.
  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding activities, including pre-hire paperwork, and collaborate with IT.
  • Compile and distribute employee communications and staff updates.
  • Maintain employee records and process personnel changes within the HRIS.
  • Respond to employment verification requests and support HR document management.
  • Track required compliance training, labor law postings, and HR compliance deadlines.
  • Coordinate HR training initiatives, including interview scheduling, candidate travel, and other departmental projects.
  • Work with the AP Coordinator to process HR-related invoices.
  • Create and maintain project codes and ensure records are accurate and consistent across accounting systems, time-tracking systems, and related tracking files.
  • Schedule internal and external meetings and take minutes, as needed.
  • Organize and maintain Finance documents in SharePoint.
  • Provide light administrative support to the Director of Human Resources and the Director of Finance.
  • Support year-end processes, surveys, Board subcommittee support, and other administrative functions as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of work experience in a professional office setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced word processing in Word and formatting and formulas in Excel.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat, including editing, combining, compressing, and organizing PDF documents.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a commitment to completing work carefully and completely.
  • Ability to proactively learn new tasks and adapt quickly to new environments.
  • Dependability and punctuality, with strong time management and prioritization under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to uphold strict privacy standards and protect sensitive information.
  • Ability to take initiative, follow through independently, and adapt to different working styles across multiple teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including clear information sharing and active listening with colleagues grounded in respect.
  • Cheerful outlook and interest in both Human Resources and Finance tasks.

Additional Details

This position includes access to confidential Human Resources and Finance information and requires successful completion of a criminal background check. All employees are required to reside in the region. The role is full-time, non-exempt, and has a 3-year term limit.

The wage range is $28.13/hour - $31.11/hour, based on experience. SELC is a PSLF (Public Service Loan Forgiveness) eligible employer. SELC also provides relocation reimbursement up to a specific dollar amount for those relocating at least 50 miles from their current primary residence.
