Operations Finance Manager I

Build financial controls that keep operations running smoothly. This full-time, onsite Operations Finance Manager role supports strong customer service, accurate financial reporting, and continuous process improvement across forecasting, budgeting, month-end close, and core finance operations. You will supervise and develop finance and office staff while partnering with operational leadership to resolve issues and inform strategic decisions. The position is located in Glendale Heights, IL (Monday through Friday), with no remote or hybrid option.

What you’ll do

• Plan, direct, and organize accurate, timely financial reporting and forecasting, including financial statements, forecasts, budgets, and variance analysis.
• Lead location financial operations across accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit and collections, payroll processing, inventory management, and expense management.
• Manage and complete the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and internal controls, including SOX compliance where applicable.
• Supervise and develop office and finance staff, including hiring, training, mentoring, and performance management.
• Maintain a strong customer service focus, supporting billing accuracy, contractual compliance, and timely, comprehensive collection of outstanding balances.
• Collaborate with District Managers and other functional leaders to support financial reviews, operational initiatives, and issue resolution.
• Evaluate, standardize, and improve financial processes to drive efficiencies, cost savings, and operational effectiveness through standardization, simplification, and automation where possible.
• Maintain effective financial controls, ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, and support internal and external audit activities as needed.
• Prepare and present relevant financial information for leadership meetings to support strategic decision-making.
• Assist with hiring paperwork and related compliance documentation, including payroll processing, workers’ compensation, and STD/LTD administration.
• Proactively resolve financial issues and advance unresolved accounts or concerns to the appropriate leadership.
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferably in accounting or finance.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in finance, accounting, and supervising teams.
• Prior experience in a Controller, Finance Manager, or equivalent operational finance role in a market center or similar environment is strongly preferred.
• Strong operational finance experience across accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, payroll, and inventory.
• Considerable knowledge of accounting standards, practices, and procedures.
• Strong analytical, reporting, and financial modeling skills.
• Excel proficiency required; experience with Oracle or other financial systems preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong customer service focus and ability to partner with operations teams.
• Track record of process improvement and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Highly self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Proven history of progressing into roles with increasing responsibility.

Compensation & schedule

Salary: $95,000 - $110,000 per year (salaried). The listed range reflects what the company expects to offer.

Location: Chicago, IL area (onsite), specifically Glendale Heights, IL.
Schedule: Monday through Friday.
Work setup: Remote or hybrid arrangements are not available.
