Job Description

Based in Phoenix, AZ on-site, this role leads the accounting and finance operations for Transtar Insurance Brokers and Blue Star Claims. The position covers financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, cash management, and regulatory compliance, providing strategic financial guidance to protect the integrity of financial records. The compensation range is USD 80,000 to 100,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the general ledger for multiple entities, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Execute month-end and year-end close cycles, including journal entries, reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements.
  • Reconcile operating and claims trust accounts on daily, weekly, and monthly cadences.
  • Track claims funding levels and coordinate replenishments with clients as needed.
  • Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and treasury functions to sustain liquidity and operational efficiency.
  • Prepare and review annual 1099 filings and other required financial reporting.
  • Produce accurate and timely financial statements, management reports, and key performance indicators.
  • Develop budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support strategic planning and business decisions.
  • Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and present recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Present financial results and forecasts to ownership and senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies, insurance regulations, client contractual requirements, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate annual audits and serve as primary liaison with external auditors.
  • Support regulatory filings and audit requests related to claims accounting and trust fund management.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and propose improvements to strengthen financial governance and efficiency.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting personnel while fostering accountability and collaboration.
  • Partner with operational leaders, including the Billing Supervisor, to resolve financial discrepancies and improve processes.
  • Evaluate accounting workflows and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Support strategic initiatives, acquisitions, growth opportunities, and organizational planning efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with accounting software platforms such as QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
