Director of Patient Financial Services

The Director of Patient Financial Services at Steele Memorial Medical Center leads the revenue cycle including patient billing, collections, and financial counseling to ensure regulatory compliance and optimized reimbursement, while promoting a positive and engaged staff environment. This onsite leadership role is based in Salmon, Idaho.

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision of staff across the Billing Office, Collections, and Admitting departments.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations for team members.
• Maintain a constructive work environment that values employees while driving motivational and retention initiatives.
• Lead by example to demonstrate engagement and proactive communication across the organization.
• Ensure open, transparent communication with employees at all levels.
• Actively listen to staff concerns and provide timely, thoughtful responses.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of related experience in healthcare financial services or a similar field.
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience with EPIC or comparable electronic health record systems.
• Certification in Healthcare Financial Management (such as CHFP or CPAM).
• Familiarity with rural healthcare billing challenges and practical solutions.
• Ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for operational improvement.
• Required within six months of hire: ICS-100, ICS-200, and IS-700 certifications.
