Finance Coordinator
Job Description
Bronx-based, onsite Finance Coordinator role supporting Medicaid billing, resident financial processes, and accurate payments. You will work closely with the business office to help ensure timely processing of applications, collections, and reconciliations in a healthcare setting.
Responsibilities
- Manage day to day operations of the Business Office.
- Conduct financial interviews for the Medicaid application process.
- Attend weekly department meetings to identify potential Medicaid application recipients.
- Discuss with Private Pay residents financial options in a timely manner.
- Educate residents and families about income payments and NAMI requirements.
- Assist with monthly billing of Private and NAMI and support collections for Private and NAMI.
- Collect resident, family, and/or POA sign authorization and related order documents for Medicaid applications.
- File Medicaid applications and conversions through the MEDS system.
- Complete yearly Medicaid re-certifications.
- Follow up and correspond with the local HRA, including handling rejected or deferred applications in a timely manner.
- File Fair Hearing and attend if necessary.
- Identify budget discrepancies and correct when necessary.
- Assist with enrollments and disenrollments for HMO/MLTC.
- Collect private and NAMI payments as needed.
- Apply for Representative Payee as necessary, and assist with guardianship petitions when necessary.
- Submit Social Security Annual Report.
- Assist with processing Direct Deposit forms for resident income (Social Security and pensions).
- Attend monthly A/R meetings and weekly UR meetings.
- Handle resident banking including check cashing, distribution of funds to residents, and timely notification to Corporate of disbursements.
- Support all aspects of Medicaid processing including applications and renewals.
- Meet with residents and/or responsible representatives for Medicaid eligibility.
- Identify residents who may need financial supervision (guardianships).
- Identify NAMI discrepancies and correct as needed.
- Support the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) process.
- Perform other duties as needed to help the department operate at maximum efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or related subject.
- Prior experience in the skilled nursing or long-term care industry.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to perform account reconciliations.
- Effective communication with Medicaid representatives.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Works in a health care setting with regular walking to different locations around the care center.
- May be exposed to virus, disease, and infection from patients and specimens.
- May work extended periods at a video display terminal.
- May experience traumatic situations, including psychiatric and deceased patients.
- Physical duties include standing, walking, sitting, using hands to handle objects, reaching with arms, climbing stairs, and talking or hearing.
- Occasionally lifts or moves office products and supplies up to 20 pounds.
Salary: USD 65,000 to 75,000 per year. Technology: MEDS. Supervisory responsibilities: none direct.
