Job Description
Benchmark Foam, Inc. is seeking a Finance Manager to lead the Accounting Department from our Watertown, SD site. This on-site role provides critical financial insights to management and stakeholders to support strategic decisions, and sits within the company’s management team to uphold integrity, commitment, and excellence. The position carries a salary range of $68,301 to $72,212 per year and requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent with five years of general accounting and management experience; the Finance Manager reports to the General Manager/President.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the Accounting Department to ensure the accuracy and timely distribution of financial management reports, including internal and external monthly statements, annual audits, and annual budgets.
- Prepare operating reports that reflect assets, liabilities, earnings, profits, cash flow, balances, and other key financial results.
- Formulate and administer accounting policies and practices.
- Prepare or direct the preparation of tax information returns or reports for government agencies.
- Manage Accounts Payables activities to ensure accurate and timely processing of payables, purchase orders, petty cash, expense reports, cash control, payroll processing, and payroll tax compliance.
- Represent the Company to external agencies on financial matters.
- Ensure accounting staff adhere to regulatory guidelines, HR policies, and top management directives in performing their duties.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent plus 5 years of general accounting and management experience.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; and to present information to groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages, using American currency.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and solve practical problems with multiple solutions.
- Computer Skills: Advanced knowledge of accounting software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software; must be proficient with spreadsheets.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: National Career Readiness Certificate preferred.
- Essential Physical Functions: Regularly sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear; reach with hands and arms; occasional standing and walking; ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; close and distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Work Environment: Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles; typical noise level is quiet.
