Job Description
At Evestia Clinical, the Finance Manager will oversee day-to-day financial operations, management reporting, and strategic planning to support profitable client-sponsored trials. Based in Charlottesville with hybrid work options, this role collaborates with senior leadership to ensure accurate forecasting, robust financial controls, and actionable insights that drive executive decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities in alignment with GAAP and IFRS standards
- Prepare detailed management reporting packages, perform variance analysis against budget and prior periods, and present findings to senior leadership
- Develop and refine forecasting and annual budgeting models across Clinical Operations, Business Development, and other key areas
- Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, and the general ledger to ensure accuracy and efficiency
- Work with Project Management and Business Development to monitor project profitability, utilization, and revenue recognition per contract terms
- Support treasury management and cash flow analysis for working capital optimization
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and external regulatory requirements
- Contribute to financial due diligence and integration planning for potential M&A or strategic investments
- Assist external auditors during annual audits by preparing schedules and documentation
- Lead and mentor junior finance and accounting staff, promoting continuous improvement and professional development
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field
- Professional certification preferred (CIMA, CPA or CFA)
- Senior-level finance or accounting experience, ideally within a CRO or pharma/biotech environment
- Strong FP&A background including budgeting and forecasting
- Full-cycle accounting experience with knowledge of GAAP/IFRS reporting standards
- Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle or NetSuite) and advanced Excel modeling
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally on project-based profitability and operational performance
- Analytical mindset with meticulous attention to detail
- Solid grounding in accounting principles and financial best practices
- Ability to translate complex financial data into clear insights for non-financial stakeholders
- Comfort with managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- High integrity and commitment to ethical financial practice
