Job Description

FOX PACKAGING seeks a hands-on Finance Manager to lead day-to-day onsite execution of the Finance and Accounting function and to work closely with the CFO and executive leadership. The role emphasizes stronger finance controls, consistent month-end close, governance over pricing, team development, and support for migrating from QuickBooks and manual tracking to Made2Manage (M2M).

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day onsite leadership and coordination for the Finance and Accounting team during the CFO’s onsite and remote weeks.
  • Maintain clear priorities, deadlines, and accountability across recurring accounting, reporting, pricing, control, and support activities.
  • Act as the first escalation point for routine workflow issues, resolving items or elevating exceptions quickly.
  • Partner with team members to understand workload, remove process friction, and improve role clarity.
  • Step into selected tasks when leverage is needed, a bottleneck must be cleared, or a critical process requires protection.
  • Serve as the primary onsite Finance contact for company owners and executive leadership for documents, approvals, questions, and financial follow-up.
  • Convert physical documents, handwritten requests, and informal owner handoffs into traceable Finance workflows with defined ownership and follow-through.
  • Ensure critical items are scanned, routed, retained, and completed rather than remaining dependent on paper or individual memory.
  • Prepare concise exception-based updates for the CFO on items requiring decision, escalation, or leadership attention.
  • Own the close calendar, including dependencies, due dates, completion tracking, and escalation of late inputs.
  • Coordinate account reconciliations, journal-entry support, AR/AP reviews, inventory/WIP close activities, and management reporting deadlines.
  • Partner with technical accounting resources to keep the close accurate, documented, and completed on a predictable cadence.
  • Establish practical controls around credit-card support, expense documentation, approvals, and other recurring close bottlenecks.
  • Provide hands-on close support when needed without displacing technical ownership held by the appropriate accounting resource.
  • Define process ownership, train backup coverage, and maintain SOPs, deadlines, and controls for critical recurring Finance activities.
  • Identify person-dependent, paper-dependent, or overly manual processes and lead practical improvement initiatives.
  • Support forward-looking digital record retention for financial support, approvals, and audit documentation.
  • Collaborate with Finance, ERP/IT, and operating teams to reduce duplicate entry, unnecessary trackers, and recurring manual reporting.
  • Help build formal control processes for inventory, excess and obsolete material, fixed assets, AR/AP, and balance-sheet integrity.
  • Support the CFO by strengthening Commercial Finance and Sales collaboration focused on profitable growth.
  • Maintain pricing governance, quote discipline, margin thresholds, and escalation paths for exceptions.
  • Coordinate pricing administration and coverage models so approved prices flow accurately through M2M, quotes, orders, and invoicing.
  • Maintain working proficiency in pricing workflows to provide coverage when primary and backup owners are unavailable.
  • Support customer, product, freight, discount, terms, and margin analysis used in bids, RFQs, renewals, and commercial decisions.
  • Help Sales evaluate pricing and commercial alternatives, including clear financial impact.
  • Coach team members toward stronger ownership, judgment, accountability, and process discipline.
  • Evaluate workload using transaction volume, cycle time, exception frequency, complexity, and business value rather than historical job boundaries.
  • Cross-train critical activities to reduce key-person dependency and improve vacation/absence coverage.
  • Help create development paths for employees to grow into higher-value finance, accounting, commercial, analytical, or systems work as Fox grows.
  • Partner with the CFO on role design, performance expectations, development plans, and future staffing needs.
  • Support the planned migration of Fox Solutions accounting and related workflows from QuickBooks and manual trackers into Made2Manage (M2M).
  • Map current-state processes, define control requirements, test future workflows, and validate reporting before legacy processes are retired.
  • Promote data quality at the source by clarifying departmental transaction ownership and reducing recurring cleanup by Finance/ERP.
  • Support improved working capital, costing, commercial, operational, and management reporting as the function matures.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including demonstrated experience leading teams and managing cross-functional responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of month-end close, reconciliations, internal controls, AR/AP, and balance-sheet management.
  • ERP experience required, with Made2Manage (M2M) experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience improving accounting processes, documenting workflows, and reducing manual work.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience supporting margin analysis or costing.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage priorities, deadlines, and accountability across Finance activities.
