Financial Controller
Job Description
GPac is seeking a Financial Controller to lead the accounting and finance function for a growing construction and fabrication organization in Fulton, MO (onsite). In this role, you will manage core reporting and budgeting activities, strengthen project accounting discipline, and partner closely with executive leadership while leading the accounting and finance team.
Reporting directly to the CEO, this position focuses on accurate financial information, strong internal controls, GAAP compliance, and actionable insights that support profitability across construction and fabrication operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting and financial reporting activities to ensure information is accurate and delivered on time.
- Lead the development and reporting of annual operating, capital, and program budgets.
- Manage project accounting, including job costing, WIP schedules, revenue recognition, and project financial reporting for construction and fabrication.
- Compare financial projections to actual results and provide recommendations to improve profitability and operational performance.
- Direct billing, collections, accounts receivable, and cash management to maintain healthy cash flow.
- Manage equipment cost allocations, utilization reporting, and the fixed asset program.
- Develop and monitor KPIs, financial dashboards, and performance metrics for executive and operational decision-making.
- Ensure effective internal controls and compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
- Lead relationships with independent auditors, tax professionals, banking partners, and other external financial stakeholders.
- Partner with executive leadership to evaluate capital expenditures, acquisitions, and other strategic growth opportunities.
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and finance personnel.
- Establish and communicate financial best practices across departments and business divisions.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, efficiency, and overall financial performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 7+ years of accounting or finance experience.
- 3+ years of management or leadership experience.
- Active CPA license required.
- Construction industry experience strongly preferred, especially in heavy civil, infrastructure, roadway, bridge, utility, earthwork, or structural steel/fabrication environments.
- Strong understanding of construction and fabrication accounting, including job costing, WIP, revenue recognition, and project financial reporting.
- Equipment accounting, fleet cost management, and fixed asset experience preferred.
- Experience with Viewpoint Vista or similar construction accounting software preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial modeling skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with executives, project managers, operations teams, and external stakeholders.

Compensation: USD 120,000 - 170,000 per year.
