Job Description

The Finance Coordinator/Accountant supports financial planning, reporting, grant management, and compliance for Youth and Family Services.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain precise financial records aligned with agency policies and GAAP.
  • Perform reconciliations of general ledgers, bank accounts, credit card statements, and balance sheets.
  • Process accounts receivable and provide back-up support for accounts payable and payroll to ensure timely, accurate transactions and continuous operations.
  • Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and reporting of annual budgets and grants budgets.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including preparation of financial statements and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate and track grant funds, donations, and restricted funding, ensuring compliance with donor and grantor requirements.
  • Assist in preparation for annual audits and provide requested documentation.
  • Conduct periodic internal audits to verify accuracy and adherence to cost accounting principles, contracts, grants, and regulatory requirements including budgeting limitations and applicable laws.
  • Collaborate with program managers to ensure proper allocation and tracking of expenses.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of all financial and client information.
  • Analyze financial data to support budgeting, forecasting, and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Maintain robust internal controls and accounting systems to ensure data accuracy and prevent fraud.
  • Classify expenditures and charges to appropriate funding sources, ensuring compliance with all funding requirements.
  • Conduct inventories and maintain comprehensive records of agency property.
  • Stay current with accounting software and related computer applications.
  • Keep the Finance Director informed about fiscal policy, conditions, and emerging issues relevant to the role.
  • Support staff training related to financial processes and documentation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Finance Director and Executive Director.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in full-charge and cost accounting.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and techniques across business and public administration contexts.
  • Understanding of managerial functions and office procedures.
  • Strong command of Business English and mathematics.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities with sound judgment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to present information clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, program staff, and external stakeholders.
  • High proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
