Job Description
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic financial leadership and guidance to the executive management team.
- Develop and manage the annual operating and capital budgets.
- Oversee financial forecasting, cash flow management, and long-range planning.
- Coordinate the preparation of annual budgets across departments.
- Lead the creation of quarterly and multi-year projections based on spending trends and operational needs.
- Analyze financial performance and offer recommendations to enhance profitability and efficiency.
- Design financial models to anticipate contingencies and support planning.
- Collaborate with the VP Strategic Development to understand projected revenue.
- Prepare and present financial reports, dashboards, and analyses to senior leadership.
- Develop and maintain strong internal controls and financial policies.
- Foster relationships with financial institutions providing operational banking services.
- Ensure accounting and financial reporting comply with regulatory and third-party requirements.
- Oversee all accounting functions, including GL, AP, AR, payroll approvals, fixed assets, and reporting.
- Ensure timely monthly, quarterly, and annual closes and financial statements.
- Coordinate annual audits and serve as primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
- Maintain compliance with GAAP, federal and state regulations, and organizational policies.
- Monitor and improve accounting systems, workflows, and procedures.
- Direct billing operations to ensure timely and accurate invoicing, collections, and postings.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging and implement strategies to improve collections.
- Ensure payer and contractual compliance and regulate billing processes with operational leaders.
- Oversee reimbursement and cost reporting in line with applicable regulations.
- Track regulatory developments affecting tax and reimbursement and respond accordingly.
- Oversee purchasing and procurement to secure cost-effective acquisitions.
- Maintain vendor relationships and contract oversight, and monitor inventory purchasing trends for cost savings.
- Manage contracts for lab reagents, hardware, and software services, ensuring policy-compliant purchasing.
- Lead, mentor, and develop Finance, Billing, and Purchasing teams; set goals and accountability.
- Foster collaboration and continuous process improvement across departments.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field (required).
- CPA or equivalent advanced financial certification; minimum 5 years of certification experience (required).
- At least 7 years of experience in finance and accounting; healthcare or laboratory sector experience is a plus.
- Proficiency with Sage 100 preferred.
- Experience with third-party insurance/client billing is a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
- Strong expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
