Role Overview
A data analyst is sought to support data conversion, validation, and reconciliation activities for ERP implementations such as CGI Advantage or similar. The role emphasizes data profiling, validation, and financial analysis to ensure migrated data is accurate, complete, and fully reconcilable to legacy systems. The analyst collaborates with the Data Conversion Lead, Functional Leads, and UAT teams to validate data across all phases—from discovery through post go-live.
Responsibilities
- Data Profiling & Analysis: Evaluate legacy data quality, completeness, and structure; detect anomalies, duplicates, and inconsistencies; conduct data discovery and profiling across modules including GL, AP, AR, Projects, and more.
- Data Validation & Conversion Testing: Validate converted data via system reports, data extracts, SQL queries, record counts, control totals, and cross-system comparisons across pre-load, load, and post-load phases.
- Financial Data Validation & Reconciliation: Support reconciling General Ledger balances, Sub-ledger data (AP, AR, Assets, Projects), beginning balances and roll-forwards, transaction-level data where applicable, trial balance validation, and fund-level reconciliations.
- Conversion Data Support: Validate master data (vendors, customers, projects, grants), open transactions (AP, AR, POs, contracts), data mapping outputs, crosswalk logic, data normalization, and mock conversion cycles with dress rehearsals.
- Data Querying & Analysis: Develop and run SQL queries for record counts, control totals, data integrity checks, discrepancies, and root-cause analysis to support troubleshooting.
- Reporting & Documentation: Produce validation reports, exception logs, data comparison summaries, and validation results suitable for audit purposes.
Requirements
- 4–8+ years in data analysis, QA, or data validation
- Experience in data validation and reconciliation
- Ability to perform data comparisons across systems
- Strong analytical capabilities
- Proficiency in interpreting and validating financial data
- Experience with SQL for data validation, querying, and analysis
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as CGI Advantage, Oracle, SAP, and PeopleSoft
- Background in data conversion and migration projects
- Understanding of financial processes (GL, AP, AR, budgeting)
- Experience in public sector or fund accounting
- Knowledge of data profiling and ETL validation
