Idaho Community Foundation is seeking an executive-level Vice President, Finance and Operations to lead the organization’s financial stewardship and administrative functions from Boise. Working closely with the President and CEO, this role shapes financial strategy while managing accounting, investments, information technology, legal, and facilities, delivering service excellence to staff, donors, and grant recipients. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement in Boise with a salary range of $135,000 to $155,000 annually.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the full suite of financial and administrative activities for ICF, aligning accounting, investments, IT, legal, and facilities under a single leadership view.
- Models professionalism, responsiveness, and service excellence in interactions with internal teams and external partners.
- Partnering with the President and CEO, designs and maintains robust financial and administrative systems across accounting, investments, IT, legal, and infrastructure.
- Based in Boise, with daily presence in the office as required.
- Directs, manages, and mentors the Accounting Manager.
- Administers accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.
- Supports the CEO in defining key financial objectives and partnering on strategy.
- Leads the development and monitoring of the annual budget.
- Ensures continuity of critical accounting and financial functions during staff vacancies or absences.
- Ensures activity is recorded to the correct fund(s) and administered per fund agreements and ICF policies.
- Identifies opportunities for efficiency and improvement through software and best practices.
- Provides accurate and timely fund information to staff, donors, and grant recipients.
- Collaborates with investment managers and consultants to ensure policy adherence and performance monitoring against benchmarks.
- Assists the Board of Directors and committees in shaping and overseeing investment strategies.
- Monitors cash flow needs to optimize investment returns within policy parameters.
- Prepares and presents monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and related information to the Board and committees.
- Directs the financial statement audit and preparation of annual filings.
- Maintains up-to-date accounting procedures and ensures compliance with regulations, standards, and internal controls.
- Develops operating policies and approaches for information technology and oversees IT to support organizational goals.
- Directs and collaborates with the Information Technology Director to secure the security and integrity of ICF’s information systems.
- Oversees service contracts, insurance, and operational agreements; manages contract maintenance.
- Guides policy development and revisions across ICF and supports governance processes.
- Provides oversight to the Executive Coordinator to ensure effective board and committee operations.
- Maintains a records retention policy and ensures accounting records remain compliant.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- CPA is highly desirable.
- At least 7 years of senior-level fund accounting experience.
- Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role with experience planning, leading, directing, and evaluating a team.
- Experience in the nonprofit or foundation sector with an understanding of investment management.
- Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and internal control principles.
- Familiarity with nonprofit regulations including GAAP, FASB ASC, and IRS guidance.
- Knowledge of the Charitable Tax Code with emphasis on charitable giving.
- Committed to service excellence.
- Technologically proficient with Microsoft Office, databases, and related software; experience with Business Central is a plus.
- Ability to formulate reports, track documents, and perform data analysis.
- Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
- Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
