Job Description
Bank of America is seeking a Credit Officer II in Asset Based Finance to steward a portfolio of asset-based lending clients, underwriting credit risk, and guide credit decisions within its corporate banking framework. This onsite role in Los Angeles combines client collaboration, rigorous financial analysis, and leadership across teams, with an emphasis on maintaining asset quality and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with relationship managers and product teams to evaluate clients’ credit needs and design tailored lending solutions.
- Manages credit and risk approvals for new originations, renewals, increases, and modifications.
- Oversees ongoing monitoring of a client portfolio in line with regulatory, policy, and procedural standards.
- Aims to grow funded loans and revenue while controlling risk, preserving asset quality, and complying with regulations.
- Acts as a point of escalation for complex credit transactions.
- Provides mentorship and guidance to junior associates.
- Oversees credit assessment and approval by analyzing financial statements, forecasts, industry and company risk, and due diligence to support sound decisions across Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Global Markets, and Treasury.
- Applies delegated authority to structure and approve transactions, including limits, terms, risk ratings, renewals, and breach actions, ensuring alignment with the bank’s risk appetite.
- Leads credit origination and portfolio management through cross-functional collaboration, serving as a senior advisor on credit matters and maintaining proactive asset quality across the client lifecycle.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in asset-based and/or commercial lending.
- Experience in monitoring the credit health of asset-based or commercial lending clients.
- Strong knowledge and comprehension of loan and collateral documentation.
- Ability to accurately analyze a borrower’s financial picture and deliver a comprehensive risk analysis to management and risk officers.
- Confidence to develop an independent viewpoint and present a business case to support conclusions.
- Excellent relationship management skills, experience working in a team environment, and the ability to influence diverse constituencies toward consensus.
- Coaching and mentoring skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
