Job Description

Bank of America is seeking an Accounting Policy Finance Manager within the CFO Group, onsite in Charlotte, NC. This role leads day-to-day financial reporting, analysis, and regulatory reporting for the domestic US Bank Agency, while upholding rigorous accounting policy standards. You will provide advanced technical accounting guidance, interpret regulatory requirements, and collaborate with Finance and Front Office to ensure that financials are accurate and compliant.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation, review, and analysis of data used in financial reports
  • Implement key financial controls and processes, including year-over-year trend analysis, variance reviews, and reconciliations across reports
  • Lead the identification, remediation, monitoring, and escalation of issues that affect financial statements or reporting
  • Build relationships with data owners across multiple lines of business to ensure complete and timely data submissions
  • Provide subject matter expertise for data quality improvements and data sourcing automation projects
  • Offer guidance on interpreting and understanding complex regulatory requirements
  • Adapt to evolving demands and changing requirements
  • Deliver complex accounting guidance to CAO, Corporate Treasurer, Corporate and Legal Entity Controllers, Line of Business CFOs and their teams, primarily related to debt securities, derivatives, hedge accounting strategies, and leasing transactions
  • Review new products and complex structured transactions, including participation in internal product review committee processes
  • Contribute to maintaining and updating the Corporation’s Accounting Policy Manual for assigned areas
  • Assist with implementing new accounting standards, primarily US GAAP
  • Support SEC Financial Reporting and Legal Entity Controllers teams in developing disclosures aligned with applicable US GAAP
  • Monitor and interpret emerging technical issues related to US GAAP and regulatory capital standards for financial holding companies; participate in comment letters
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of SEC and GAAP reporting requirements and lead internal education sessions
  • Act as an advocate for the bank with accounting standard setters and industry organizations
  • Review and/or draft sections of the corporation's 34 Act SEC filings
  • Draft comment letters to standard setters and responses to SEC review comments
  • Interact directly with external and internal audit engagement management and staff

Requirements

  • More than ten years of accounting and banking experience, with a focus on technical accounting advisory or banking policy
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
  • Strong understanding of accounting standards applicable to financial instruments
  • Familiarity with bank regulations including SEC requirements
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to interact at multiple levels in the organization
  • Self-motivated with strong time management and organizational abilities
  • Proven ability to collaborate across teams to implement accounting standards and lead projects
  • Experience analyzing and dissecting complex transactions, particularly hedge accounting transactions
  • MBA or master’s degree
